Faif by Beavl Games is a gambling inspired puzzle RPG. Each turn you choose 5 consecutive tiles, but you only get 1 of them. This gives you a 1 in 5 chance of getting the outcome you desire. Now, you might be thinking that winning is just luck. This, however, is not necessarily the case. Sure you can have some unlucky moments, but the real strategy in Faif comes from deciding which tiles to choose and allowing for the potential of not getting want all the time. </div>

A quick run down of what each tile does:<br />
Skull: -1 health<br />
Heart: +1 health<br />
Sword: +1 damage for each skull in the selection<br />
Gem: +1 gem for each gem in selection<br />

By using a combination of each of these tiles you must over come various enemies and bosses. It is important to know when to try and go for more damage or when to go for health. It is a difficult choice, especially because you are no guaranteed to get the tile you want.</div>

Oh my goodness, Faif can be really annoying though. Sometimes, I can do really well get a good streak and reach the second boss. Then again, other times I get stuck on my first opponent. Relentlessly hitting myself while they just pile on hearts. I suppose this what you can expect from a gambling based game. The meta game does help with this frustration, slightly. Every 100 Silicon's you collect you gain 1 additional gem to start the game with. This makes getting further a bit easier, but not guaranteed, so the game stays balanced.</div>
<div dir="ltr">

<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
You increase your Silicon's in 2 ways, beating enemies or challenges. The challenges go from easy to stupid. Making a 2 skull match is alright, fairly easy and quite sensible, but a 5 skull match is just suicide. Sometimes, however, it can be worth it for the substantial increase in Silicon's since more gems, means more shop purchases. This makes the beginning of the game easier and helps you to get farther, too.<br />

I like the music in Faif. It kind of gives an unusual western feel. Perhaps that ties in to the hidden story in the game. I have not managed to uncover it, but I am intrigued by what it could be.<br />

Faif is a cute, addictive and frustrating game. I was initially sceptical about the gambling element, but it actually adds a depth of strategy that applies to real life. Making contingent choices so you can achieve a secondary outcome. The game really makes you think and plan each turn. This, however, will not stop you from getting skulls 5 times in a row and killing yoirself on occasion. Then again, the risk element does make it extremely satisfying and addictive. </div>

Detective Grimoire by SFB Games is a detective point and click adventure game and probably the best game in the bundle. Although fairly short and lacking in many challenging puzzles, it has great voice acting and is a great mystery game. Set in a swap Detective Grimoire (our hero), must solve a case involving monsters, movie directors and tree houses.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
While it is a fairly standard detective romp, it is a well polished and thoroughly enjoyable one. A nice game device being that sometimes Grimoire has 'floating ideas' and you need to put the ones that make sense together. A very enjoyable game and I hope that Detective Grimoire has many more cases in the future. </div>

<br />
Devil's Attorney by 1337 Game Design is an odd one. It is a turn based strategy game that take place in the court room. It's a bit strange, but in a good way. You have to reduce your opponents 'credibility' to zero and make them leave the court room. To do this, you use different abilities. Each affects different types of 'enemy' for example interrogation damages people and analysis evidence. Each turn you have a certain number of action people to perform these abilities and try to beat your opponent. At the end of each turn your enemies will damage you for whatever their attack is, lose enough life and you will lose the case. All in all the combat focuses down a turn bases RPG feel to a courtroom. Throw in an apartment where buying furniture and decorations gives you buffs to unlock more abilities and it creates quite an unorthodox, but intriguing game.<br />
<br />
4/5<br />
<br />
I would recommend that you try Devil's Attorney because it has some great aspects to it, even if it does have some cheesey writing.<br />

Sentinel 3: Homeworld by Origin 8 is a tower defence game. A genre that has been done many times before, but one that Sentinel 3 does extremely well. Loads of different defences, from ground to air. Special abilities, such as homing missiles. Getting an interest bonus depending on how much money you have left at the end of a wave is clever idea, it makes you weigh up the need to upgrade against getting more money for further upgrades. An upgradeable mech unit that you can bounce around the map. Lots to play with in 2 campaigns, endless mode and classic mode. Sentinel 3 really does have loads to offer. </div>

<br />
Sleepwalkers Journey by 11 Bit Games is a puzzle platformer with a twist. You don't actually control the main character. Instead, our sleepwalking friend Moonboy needs you to move obstacles, lift platforms and move bridges so he does plummet to his doom. With two different collectables for each level, stars and moons, and a race against the clock needing quick decisions, Sleepwalkers Journey is an interesting take on the classic puzzle platformer genre.<br />
<br />
Sleepwalkers is a cute game with nice short and sweet levels can leave you puzzling, how do I get all the collectables on this level? It could do with a little more depth, but different elements get added the more levels you unlock. With tonnes of levels and loads of areas to play in, Sleepwalkers Journey is definitely going to let you scratch that puzzle itch for a long time.<br />

The mystery game has been revealed to be, Geometry Dash by Rob Top Games. Geometry Dash should come with a warning, "highly addictive and extremely frustrating". In this game, you take control of a little square and click your phone screen to make it jump gaps, avoid spikes, oh and when it jumps on a rocket move it up and down. One slip, a single mistake, a finger left on the screen too long and our lottle square is dead. The game is all about timing and remembering when to jump and when not to. A simple mistake at 98% of your way through a level means being sent back to the beginning. Now, it might sound like I'm being quite down on Geometry Dash, but the truth is I love it. Loads of levels, a great soundtrack and different characters make for a great game you can play for a minute or an hour.</div>

It has evereverything you want from a phone game, play as little or as much as you want. Hearing the soundtracks through to the end is a reward in itself.</div>

Now, you may think I am exaggerating, but I'm not. It has essential everything you would want from an MMORPG. Level progression, equipment progression, clans (corporations), PVP, a low data usage and tonnes more. Still a none believer? The game really opens up at level 15. You are now competent enough to move out of gray space (the newbie zone) and explore black space. You may, if you are foolish enough, wander into black sectors while under level 15, but you will almost certainly die. This is because there are big nastey aliens out there and even bigger nastier players as well. That right folks, out there in that big black is Player Vs Player space. My poxy level 7 Frigate stood no chance against a level 150 Destroyer. So lesson learnt, stay in the safe zone until you can at least run away moderately well.</div>

The Infinite Black get slightly let down by it's user interface. Not only can it be a bit clunky, it's confusing nature means new player can be put off. Fortunately, there is a question mark tab at the side so you can access the wiki in an easy overlay. However, it can still be overwhelming due to a large number of features being compressed into a small space. The wiki does have a tutorial that introduces how to play the game, but a formal tutorial would benefit new players. </div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br /></div>
<div dir="ltr">
The combat is fairly straightforward, but enjoyable and suprisingly deep. Each weapon type has it's own damage, cool down and additional stats. So choosing the best weapon for you is important. Do you want to build a heavy goliath, that needs 20 seconds to get off a massive hit? Or something that hits for less but really quickly? Another thing to remember is, equip points. These regulate how powerful your equipment can be. Meaning, you cannot get enormous guns on your shuttle, but you can on larger vessels. Makes sense really. </div>
<div dir="ltr">
There are 7 equipment slots, each one serving a different purpose. Guns for killing, armour for living and storage for collecting your enemies remains. Each equipment type has levels and further subtypes. Meaning different types of armour for different types of ship build. To add even more depth there are 7 rarities as well. This equates to a lot of options for you. Plenty to be playing with as you decide what sort of ship you want to use.</div>

<div dir="ltr">
Now we know how equipment works, back to the combat. Once your chosen tool of space domination has reloaded you can choose a target. Your attack can now either hit, miss or crit. The liklihood of each is destermined by both your stats and your opponents. Throw in grappling, (for towing or being towed), the unknown factors about your enemy and splash damage and you have a really deep and strategic system that requires thought and planning. Deciding when to run and when to stand your ground. Which ships to chase and which to let escape. Honestly, I feel like a proper ship Captain taking on the Universe, making snap judgements that could mean life or death.</div>

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
Dead Pixels by CSR-Studios is a zombie game, and I know what
you are thinking “Not another one…”. Well yes, but this one is actually pretty
good. Containing character upgrades, tonnes of weapons, pickups and houses to
loot along the way, Dead Pixels takes all the good elements about a zombie game
and streamlines them. No more long winded stories with tedious moral
consequences, just point, shoot and perhaps throw a grenade every now and
again. Take all this and grab an unsuspecting friend for local co-op and you
have something that is loads of fun.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Dead Pixels loose story line is not going to win any awards,
but it works for an excuse to shoot your way through hordes of zombies. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>As we so often do in zombie games, we find
ourselves in a city looking to get out alive. As we progress down each street
there are houses ransack and other survivors to trade with. Also, everybody
knows zombies walk around with loads of cash in their dead pockets, so along
the way you might as well liberate them of this unnecessary baggage and buy yourself
some fireworks or ten shots of adrenaline. The end of the world can make you
quite rich, shame about that whole apocalypse thing and all.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Gameplay is what Dead Pixels boils down to. Run shoot, run
some more, shoot again, become over encumbered, try and run but be unable to,
run out of ammo and have to poke your way out of fights, get swarmed by the undead,
see your partner die and become zombie who then starts to chase you, eventually
decide “Hell with this”, dump all your excess weight and dash between all the
zombies like you are in a downhill slalom race. Finally, breathe. All of this in
a single street. As you have probably guessed, Dead Pixels can be very fast
paced and frantic. However it does have a deep level of strategy to it.
Managing your weapon ammo and deciding what to buy and sell to a trader adds an
unexpected depth to the game. Ammo can be scarce and shops appear erratically,
or sometime not at all. With each shop having a different selection of goods
and varying prices, knowing when you are getting a bargain is important.
However, you don't always have that luxury, what with all those undead folk and
everything milling about outside.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
Dead Pixels looks and sounds great. There is a wide range of
zombie models, along with loads of different types of zombies from spitters to
guys who run at you. Dead Pixels really does feel like an entire city, with its
vast range of people, has turned on you. While the shops and houses are
repeated level after level, I personally feel this adds to the feeling that the
road out of the city is never-ending. Dead Pixels soundtrack compliments the
game perfectly. It has a great rock/metal soundtrack with some brilliant
guitaring throughout. I always think a game with a cleverly built and executed
soundtrack is far more enjoyable to play because of it. This is a soundtrack I
would buy and listen to separately from the game.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
Dead Pixels has two additional game modes on top of the
standard escape the city mode. The Solution allows you to choose a character
from a list of convicted criminals who each have their own specific stats. The objective
for this game mode is to trigger a catastrophic overload in the cities power
plant and escape so you get pardoned of whatever crime you committed. With no
shops or other survivors to interact with you are simply intent on your target
of the power plant and escaping in one piece. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>However, you do have the ability to spend the
money earned from zombie kills still by using one of the 4 radios given to you
at the start of the game. So you can really save up and buy some of the game’s
biggest and most devastating guns to smash your way to the power plant and back
out again. The other game mode is called The Last Stand and it is your run of
the mill survival and time trail mode. No great leap from this mode, but it is
a nice addition to two already great game modes.</div>

This is a zombie game to be remembered. It is loads of fun, with
plenty of weapons, upgrades and zombies, local co-op, 3 different game modes

<div class="MsoNormal">
Knytt Underground is an exploration platformer. You play as
Mi, a young lady who has gone spelunking. There have been two previous games in
the Knytt series. However, you do not need to have played them to enjoy
exploring the vast caverns in Knytt Underground. Packed with quests, puzzles and a whopping
1,800 rooms can Knytt Underground dig its way to gaming glory?</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/23/22353/thumb_940x3000/5.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/23/22353/thumb_940x3000/5.png" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /><br />
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Let’s start with story. I have no idea what is going on it
Knytt Underground. I go and find some fairies. Do some quests, including
finding candlesticks along the way. All while enjoying a lush underground environment
and highly enjoyable and responsive platforming. So what if this isn't a game
with a winning storyline. It is a game about exploring a complex area of caves
and enjoying an adventure to discover what is in the next room. What it boils
down it is a Metroidvania game without all that pesky combat. You can simply
enjoy exploring for explorations sake.<br />
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/23/22353/thumb_940x3000/10.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/23/22353/thumb_940x3000/10.png" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Knytt Underground has some of the smoothest and most
responsive platforming I have encountered in a long time. Usually precision
jumping is out of the question, instead just end up diving headlong towards your goal
and hoping for the best. Not Knytt Underground. Along with
graceful jumps, Mi can also climb up most straight surfaces. This is an
important element of the game as without her ability to climb, you would not
get very far. There is a rudimentary tutorial that introduces some of Knytt
Undergrounds features, but not all of them. Throughout your adventure you will
come across these glowing orbs. Each of these gives Mi a specific power-up. These
range from turning Mi into a little orb so you can fly across an area or makes
and explosion to help you jump higher. No matter what the power-up is, it really changes up the gameplay and shapes Knytt Underground
into a unique and unpredictable game.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/23/22353/thumb_940x3000/1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/23/22353/thumb_940x3000/1.png" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Graphically Knytt Underground looks great. The environments
are wonder, if a little dark at times, but then what did I expect from a game set in a
series of caves. Using the various power-up looks as great as it feels to use
them. Although the character models are a little shaky, they are a null point
since your main focus is the massive scope of the game and its hundreds of
rooms to explore.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/23/22353/thumb_940x3000/3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/23/22353/thumb_940x3000/3.png" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Unfortunately Kyntt Underground does have some poor
qualities. The quest system is just a basic delivery job. Find A and bring it to
B. However, you do get to enjoy all of Knytt Underground's other features
during each quest. The other bit about quests that could use improvement
are the rewards. Now, I am not being greedy or anything, but after collect several
random items for a stranger I usually expect something shiny out of the deal.
In Knytt Underground all you get is the satisfaction of a job well done and to
be able to access a new area. So it can feel you aren’t really progressing even
when you are. Now we come to the issue of save points. Why are they so well
hidden and infrequent? It isn’t like you need to make sure you don’t die, because
all dying does is respawn you back where you were previously. So I don’t
understand why the save points are not just a bit more often, it makes playing
the game for shorter periods of time difficult – this is something that could
be improved upon to expand the potential market for this game. Nifflas Games if
you are reading please make some change to this. You need to have more frequent
save points, otherwise you end up like me wandering around in search of one for
the better part of 20 minutes and that’s no good. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/23/22353/thumb_940x3000/knytt-wallpaper-1-1920x1080.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/23/22353/thumb_940x3000/knytt-wallpaper-1-1920x1080.jpg" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Backtracking is another element that could have been
reduced. While there are a lot of rooms, it seems there are a lot of wasted
rooms. There a great deal of rooms with very little in and it seems that the
game could have exploited this and had more plaforming elements.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>However, there are enough rooms to challenge
your skills. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
On the whole Knytt Underground is a brilliant exploration
platformer with a fantasic physics engine. However, it could be improved by
having more frequent and less hidden save points and a more rewarding quest
system. These somewhat minor complaints are overshadowed by a well crafted
plaformer and highly enjoyable game.</div>

Dwarf Quest is a dungeon crawler with a turn-based combat
system. Playing as Morrin Firebeard you could not have a more classic Dwarven
name. Using a simple, but effective system Dwarf Quest pits our hero against
monsters, traps and bosses throughout his journey. While Dwarf Quest harkens
back to old school dungeon crawlers can it stand up in modern times? </div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
First off, Dwarf Quest is not a game with a grand story. It
is, however, one with a loose story that gives you a bit of background. You are
playing as Morrin Firebeard as he journeys through The Foundry on this year’s
tournament. Along the way poor Morrin discovers nothing, but various creatures
with pointy weapons and the corpses of his friends. The reasoning behind this
brutal tournament beyond me, but it works for the premise of the game.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Dwarf Quest's graphic are not the most polished. However, the
enemy models are quite detailed and varying. I like to think it was the developer’s
choice in making the rooms look very similar in order to enhance the feeling of
being a lost in a dungeon. If this is the case it is executed perfectly. Even
with the ability to see where I had been previously, Hansel and Gretel style, I still felt a bit lost at times. Atmospheric would be a good word to describe
Dwarf Quest's graphics, if a little uninteresting at times.</div>

Combat in Dwarf Quest is turn-based. Each action performed uses up one of the dots above each characters head. These actions
include: moving, attacking, blocking and using health potions, but not battle
cards. Blocking makes shields appear above Morrin’s head equal to the number of
dots he had left and reduces the amount of damage he takes. The same is
true for his enemies. The real strategy comes from utilising blocking,
attacking and moving to the best of your advantage. Certain encounters are
trickier than others forcing you to alter your tactics.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Throughout Morrin’s journey he finds a range of items.
These span from your ordinary health potions and treasure chest keys, to
battle cards. Battle cards buff Morrin’s abilities in a range of ways. They can fully heal him instantly or make his next attack really pack a punch. They can
really make a difference in Dwarf Quests more difficult battles and
especially in both boss battles. Using a battle card can really turn the tide
in Morrin’s favour and should be used accordingly. You find them frequently in
crates and chests and even though there is a shop to buy them in, you rarely
need to. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Now, onto the shop. What would you normally expect a shop in a dungeon to like? Well, whatever you were expecting I bet you were not
counting on it being a coffin. The first few times I
saw it did not even realise it was a shop and passed it up wondering "What
am I meant to do with all this gold?”. Anyway confusing store managers aside
the battle cards can be a tad overpowered, but they can also really make a
difference in a tough fight so be sure to stock up.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Now we come to the issue of balance. Dwarf Quest is,
unfortunately, riddled with these. Firstly, at the beginning of the game
blocking means you take no damage. So it is easy enough from this horde all
the health potions in case you need one - which isn't very often to begin with.
However, once you progress far enough, finding a shield and another axe,
blocking becomes less viable. So you would assume equip the shield, do a bit
less damage, but stay alive easier. Wrong. By this stage unless you have two
axes equipped the enemies will not take any damage. Puzzler, no? We it goes on.
Even with enemies being able to hurt you through your guard they rarely pose
much of a threat. this is due to the ample numbers of health potions and battle cards
you find. However, in spite of all this Dwarf Quest is highly
addictive. I simply could not stop playing even though I found myself
complaining about all these balance issues. When it comes down to it, Dwarf Quest is
a highly enjoyable dungeon crawler with an interesting combat system. Would I
have like some things to be a bit more polished and balanced? Yes. However, with
a second one on the works maybe these will be addressed. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I would say that Dwarf Quest is worth a play. It is a fresh dungeon crawling experience and is unlike many other games today. I am definitely looking forward to the second one.</div>

Instead of a <span class="hiddenSuggestion suggestion_Complex_Expression checking_error" data-type-class="suggestion_Complex_Expression" id="error_1" pre="a ">final</span> something/100 score, I am going to make <span class="hiddenGrammarError grammar_Wrong_article checking_error" data-type-class="grammar_Wrong_article" id="error_3" pre="implement ">a something</span>/5 system instead. This will rate the game in various areas such as graphics, plot and gameplay. I will then tally up the numbers and work out the average. This should give a more representative score for each game I review. This in the hope that the scores will make more sense. I have had a lot of feedback saying that the number at the end of the review is too vague. The reviews themselves <span class="hiddenGrammarError grammar_Passive_voice checking_error" data-type-class="grammar_Passive_voice" id="error_5" pre="itself ">will be unchanged</span>. See below for an example of what the new score system should look like.</span>
<br />
<br />
Graphics - 4/5<br />
Soundtrack - 3/5<br />
Gameplay - 4/5<br />
<b>Overall - 4/5</b><b><br /></b><br />
<b><br /></b>
The number of scores will vary between games. I may add in enjoyment or plot depending upon the game, but the end result of and 'overall' score afterwards that is the average of those above will not. I have yet to decide whether I will be being a decimal point and it might be something that appears rarely or something that becomes a staple. We will just have to wait and see.<br />
<br />
Anyway, there we go the new system for reviews in all its shining glory.<br />

guessed, you play as a spider. The aim of each level is to collect the 3 flies
dotted around the map and reach the end web. You have to run, climb and run
your way along the thin spider web while enjoying the slightly psychedelic
music and visuals. Along Came a Spider takes the standard platformer formula,
of reach the exit, and runs with it. The major difference with Along Came a
Spider is that you play as a spider. Using your spider-ly powers you are able
to climb surfaces. In fact, the game hangs a lot of its gameplay and
platforming on this concept. For example, you may need to jump, hang upside
down and run along for a bit before jumping back off again. Your spider can
hang on any white surface (presumably webbing). There are some other surfaces,
but spiders apparently hate them. With all these white lined surfaces I keep
expecting line runner to come sledging down on me at any moment.<br />

While attempting to reach the end of each level the games
asks you "please<span class="mceitemhidden"> collect some flies". These
are optional collectables required to unlock further levels. Bit of an oxymoron
and it would have been nice if the flies unlock extras, such as different skins
for the spider. Actually, Along Came a Spider doesn't have anything other than
the platforming levels. I know that is what the game is all about, but I am a
sucker for <span class="hiddenspellerror">unlockables</span></span><span class="mceitemhidden">. </span></div>

playing through it over an extended period, instead of having a massive gaming
session on it. One reason I had to stop playing was that; the jumping physics
are really <span class="hiddenspellerror">floaty</span></span><span class="mceitemhidden">, for a
game based on being able to time and aim jumps well, this is an issue. Frequent
checkpoints make this a tad more manageable, but it is still frustrating to miss

intentional as it really combines well with the psychedelic soundtrack. </span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
Earth Defence Force: Insect Armageddon is one of those games
that can get away with being really cheesy and over the top games because it is madly
addictive and incredibly fun to play. Throw together, blasting your way through
a horde of alien invaders, that coincidently look like various insects, with
massive boss fights and insurmountable odds and you have a winning combination.
For lack of a better comparison think of Earth Defence Force as like Lost
Planet, but without all that nonsense of fighting other humans. Combine all these features with co-op, character
upgrades and replayability and you would think it would be amazing, right? Well
let’s see shall we?</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Firstly let’s focus
on what Earth Defence Force is all about: gameplay. At its core, Earth Defence
Force is an objective based third person shooter. The enemies range from
ants to spiders, but they also throw space ships and giant
robots at you. The game can have loads of enemies running you and your
comrades down at any moment from both the air and ground. Oh, and by
comrades I mean either AI players or if you jump online you can grab a buddy
and charge through both campaign and survival maps.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
Weapons. What more
could you want to devastate your foes that a massive range of weapons? Earth
Defence Force comes with a range of classes in the form of armours. The armours
are: Trooper, Jet, Tactical and Battle. Each one fills a role in the
battlefield and the game works best if you have one person playing as each.
However, if (like me) you can rarely coordinate your pals, then the
game's AI takes the place of the other three soldiers and you can still enjoy
the game. Like I said before, each armour has its own weapon set and play
style. Such as, the Jet Armour is all about flying about and raining down fire
from the skies. Whereas, the Battle Armour sits you under loads of health and a
big gun on the ground. So as you can see, there is a lot to play about with in
Earth Defence Force. Alongside, the ability to upgrade your suits by gaining
XP and the choice to buy and equip a range of weapons before each mission. This gives you a lot of customisability. As
you upgrade your armour and it becomes more powerful and better
weapons become available. You are however limited to 2 weapons per hero for
the mission and this means if you make a bad choice then it cannot easily be swapped.<br />
<br /></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Earth Defence Force
might not be the prettiest game, but it does manage to have tonnes of enemies on
screen at once without any issues. The textures are a bit flat and there isn't
much in the way of detail. However, since you are about to kill hundreds of
enemies in a matter of minutes you don't even get much chance to take in the details of your enemies. Most things in Earth Defence Force are destructible. This includes: buildings, cars, trees and whatever else gets in either sides way. However, they
just crumble and it isn't exactly the most beautiful and lifelike demolition. Again though,
the sheer scale of the maps and the amount of destruction means you
don't really mind. Especially, if you are about to be
overrun by ants.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Missions in Earth
Defence Force set you and your squad to help clear out the city by closing ant
hills and clearing out areas. The missions that do not involve the massive
bosses, that make Earth Defence Force shine, can get a little boring. Go here,
kill that, and activate this. It can be a little uninspired at times. As you
crank up the difficulty this can make it more interesting, as the insects
become more difficult to kill. Although, overall gameplay is the same apart from harder difficulties meaning you can upgrade your armour
to higher levels.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
Alongside the regular
missions there are a wide number of survival missions that throws greater and
greater numbers of enemies at you and making you try to live as long as
possible. However, this doesn't differ any from the campaign except that the
bugs don't run out. This mode is best played with friends because otherwise it
can get stale quickly.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
While regular
missions can get a bit boring and repetitive, boss fights are exciting. They generally involve something that is massive and seemingly invincible. When you
reach your first boss fight in Earth Defence Force it is such a massive
creature. It stomps about the maps making you feel tiny in comparison and
there is a great sense of achievement when you finally defeat it. This feeling
is sustained through further boss fights throughout the campaign. Each boss and
some other smaller enemies use 'weak spots' that must be attacked in order to
do any damage to them. The fact that you can only really damage them at a
certain time and only in short bursts can be irritating, but it means you need
to play tactically in order to you defeat it. </div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
I would like Earth
Defence Force to only be the boss fights, since I began to find the regular
missions too repetitive. Although, when playing with other people this is
mitigated because competing to get the highest number of kills is brilliantly
fun. I would prefer it to have had local co-op so I could play the co-op more
often. A great amount of customisability and explosive gameplay
makes for a wickedly fun game, which is best played with friends.</div>

Guy is a one of those games that is chock-a-block full of video games jokes, puns and pop culture references, some of which are very old or aimed at a specific generation. This can make them very hit and miss, as well a bit grating.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Guy is mostly a Zelda-like game. You journey through dungeons, defeat monsters and bosses to reach a goal. There are 3 play styles and these are: move and attack with the mouse only, keyboard and mouse and a keyboard only build. However, the basic deal is the same. Personally I enjoy the mouse only mode myself.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.cogmonkeys.com/GuyVsTheWickedAndNefariousLand/image/screens/ss11.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.cogmonkeys.com/GuyVsTheWickedAndNefariousLand/image/screens/ss11.png" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Now, I'm all for funny jokes and things but Guy is full of jokes I have heard so many times before. This means that by this stage I am a bit sick of them. I thought we were done hearing "Over Nine Thousand" references. But, alas apparently not. There are some genuinely funny moments but they are few and far between and don't add to the game. This coupled with numerous spelling mistakes (I'm one to talk) make the whole story element a bit cumbersome. However, Guy isn't really about sweeping you away with a epic tale. Instead, Guy is more about enjoying a decent dungeon explorer at a more casual pace.<br />
<div>
<br />
The gameplay is where Guy shines. As I said before, personally, I prefer the mouse only controls. Only needing to use one hand really adds to the casual feel and tone of the game making it simple and accessible to play. The range of enemies that are introduced throughout the game is quite diverse and each uses different tactics to try and defeat you. This ranges from exploding goo over you slowing and stunning, to quick leaps and pounces that need to be fly countered and dodged. This makes the combat hectic and paced even if it can mean that enemies can combo you to death quite easily. Although since you can get amulets to increase your lives it means you can learn from your previous mistakes. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.cogmonkeys.com/GuyVsTheWickedAndNefariousLand/image/screens/ss10.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.cogmonkeys.com/GuyVsTheWickedAndNefariousLand/image/screens/ss10.png" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
The live system in Guy is quite interesting. It uses an in-game item an 'amulet' that gives you extra lives. These lives are refreshed at each checkpoint on a dungeon. This can be useful if you have just had a difficult room. However, it can also make the game a bit unbalanced. This especially because it is relatively cheap to buy the more powerful amulets that give the most lives. Having a powerful amulet at the during the beginning of the game can lead it it feelings very easy, resulting in a few deaths meaning nothing as you have lots more lives. It is, however, an interesting take on the life system that works well, even if it has a few balance issues.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div>
Along side buying amulets to buff your lives, Guy also have a range of weapons that can be upgraded. Each weapon has a different play style. For example, swords are your all-rounders, spears attack fast but do less damage and axes are your heavy hitters. Each upgrade increases their power, but there are only a few upgrades person weapon so this is a somewhat limited system. Along with weapons there are also three skills that can be unlocked and then upgraded. While these are a nice addition they are limited to three levels apiece and can be maxed out fairly easily. You can also find various rings with different benefits throughout your journey that can buff your character.</div>
<div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.cogmonkeys.com/GuyVsTheWickedAndNefariousLand/image/screens/ss7.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.cogmonkeys.com/GuyVsTheWickedAndNefariousLand/image/screens/ss7.png" height="266" width="400" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Alongside the main game you can collect relics that provide special missions with a specific objects. These missions can be highly challenging and will really test your skills when compared to the more casual dungeon of the story mode. In addition, the game also keeps track of all of the enemies you have defeated in the bestiary and you can train against these whenver you wish. This can help to understand the enemies movements when trying to finish a dungeon or relic mission.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Guy has a range of extras including its own in game achievements and statistics to track basically everything you do throughout the game. The stats include basic things like how may kills you have but goes into great death by tracking all the different ways you have died including: frozen, sliced, eaten and the ever mysterious 'other'. These are fun reminders about your journey through the game and it can be funny to see just how many times you have died even though you, I, thought the game was relievely easy. Alongside this, there are multiple difficulty modes if you want to further challenge yourself.</div>
<div>

<br /></div>
<div>
Overall I can say I enjoyed Guy Vs The Wicked and Nefarious Land it is a solid dungeon crawler that is best played with the mouse only option. While some, or a lot, of its jokes just make me sigh I am sure others will enjoy them. The great range of enemies and the pick up and play feel make for a fun and leisurely experience.</div>

When I say brutal I really mean it. However, it is brutal in a nurturing kind of way. It shows you what to do then throws hordes of monsters at you ask as "Why did you just die, you fool?". I'm not alway sure whether Rogue's Tale thinks I can win against the odds by doing something different, or just enjoys watching me die after moving two spaces and die to what at first seems like a fairly harmless rat. Despite being cruelly treated and dying more than 100 times, why am I compelled to keep trying?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://rogue.epixx.org/images/Screen0001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://rogue.epixx.org/images/Screen0001.jpg" height="250" width="400" /></a></div><br />
The main reason is that against all the odds I really want to win. Maybe this is just my own stubborn streak, but I really think that the game hold a great deal of content just waiting to be unlocked. If I have to go through several hundred lives, by gosh I am going to see that content. <br />
<br />
Initially in Rogue's Tale you choose your starting stats in: strength, agility, stamina and charisma is going to be. These stats can then be upgrade when your character levels up. On top of this, every 3 levels your character gains it learns a trait by using specific objects in the game. These objects range from magic stones (which allows you to advance magically), to a campfire (that makes you more like a warrior). However, choose wisely as you cannot change this decision and can only have a certain number of traits. Once you unlock traits in a specific category such as literacy, you unlock an achievement that allows further characters to "inherit" this ability. This means that even if your hero dies you can (if you managed to progress far enough), retain some of what you battled your way through hordes of deadly enemies to gain. Rogue's Tale interesting way of linking your previous heroes to your current hero is a novel and interesting idea. The only hardship being that it is difficult to progress far enough to gain these benefits. Although, once you do it makes progression easier and enhances the chance you will live long enough to unlock further "heritage" skills.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://rogue.epixx.org/images/Screen0002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://rogue.epixx.org/images/Screen0002.jpg" height="250" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Rogue's Tale is technically turn based with each decision, movement and attack taking a turn. Your total number of turns and a range of other statistics are provided upon your death, alongside your overall score and a short sentence that basically tells you how good/rubbish you did. When attacking and performing other interactions the game rolls two virtual six sided dice. Everything decision within Rogue's Tale is decided on the roll of a dice. This retro system works great but does mean that early and low levels monster can kill you easily because they were lucky enough to roll a six.<br />
<br />
There are so many different types of weapons, skills and abilities in Rogue's Tale that you can play your character however you wish. Although, I have found that I need a shield. Most of my early deaths have been the result of being poorly equipped. This can leave you at the whimsy of a game that may not want to give you any armour at all. In this case you are either very lucky and find enough gold to purchase something from the shop or a merchant, or you die to one thing or another.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://rogue.epixx.org/images/Screen0003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://rogue.epixx.org/images/Screen0003.jpg" height="250" width="400" /></a></div><br />
The main shop in the game stocks a vast range of items that steadily increase in price and power. You can also enchant, remove curses and identify items in order increase the benefits from equipping them. The main shop is directly up the stairs in which you start the game on. This can mean unless you find a merchant several floors down, you can end up having to run all the way back to make room for new items. However, it can make the whole game feel more like an adventure since dungeons don't, or shouldn't, have conveniently placed shops. On the flip side of this it can be very annoying having to run all the way back. However, I have rarely survived long enough for this to be an issue. Yet I keep playing. Curious, no?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://rogue.epixx.org/images/Screen0005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://rogue.epixx.org/images/Screen0005.jpg" height="250" width="400" /></a></div><br />
Despite Rogue's Tale and it's rabid difficulty, it is highly addictive and has a "Oh, just one more character" feel that many games lack. This combines well with the heritage of certain traits making further character more powerful and more likely to live longer. A great blend of exploration, item collection and character development makes Rogue's Tale nothing short of brilliant. I must admit that the difficulty will turn off many people. Many people will struggle to progress and will feel it has nothing to offer since the game is so unforgiving. However, the game won't let them actually reach a point where they can see what the game offers, but it has a lot to offer the right person.<br />
<br />

Hence the name. Along the way he will face many trails and enemies that will try to stop him. Where as many point and click games punish you getting something wrong with "I can use that here" or "Please try again", Castle Dracula just kills you. Turned left instead of right? Well now, your dead. Chose the wrong lever? You guessed it, you're dead. It is pretty brutal. The game does steadily teach you through the trail and error, be careful or I will kill you a lot. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/20/19596/thumb_940x3000/48_Woman_and_Flying_Demons_2596X1080.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/20/19596/thumb_940x3000/48_Woman_and_Flying_Demons_2596X1080.jpg" height="166" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
A pretty basic set up of husband tries to rescue wife with a rather simple if unusual interface. In Castle Dracula you switch between 3 clicking modes: move, use item or interact with and pick up. This can mean a lot of clicking on and off different modes. It can be rather tedious. When you combine this with a bug that makes items you are trying drag for an interaction stop mid-screen, then you have a game that can be a chore to play through.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://assets.indiecity.com/a9cb5206-8c2e-4933-85ad-703b2c819e60/screenshot_1359214425.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://assets.indiecity.com/a9cb5206-8c2e-4933-85ad-703b2c819e60/screenshot_1359214425.jpg" height="246" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The overall game is fairly short and it is likely only to stump people who just haven't seen where an item is to pick up. You can only hold 5 items at once but that isn't a problem because you never need to have any more than that. The puzzles are fairly obvious and straight forward, use the item you just found on the boss/room you just found to progress. Even the boss fights are nothing all that exciting. Merely drag an item onto them and they will die. A bit disappointing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/20/19596/thumb_940x3000/47_Village_Castle_2596X1080_brighter_option.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/20/19596/thumb_940x3000/47_Village_Castle_2596X1080_brighter_option.jpg" height="166" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Castle Dracula looks gorgeous. The artwork of all the characters heroes and villains is brilliant and its sullen and tense soundtrack will make you feel like something is about to jump out on you. The voice acting on the whole is good even if there are a few cheesey lines. The game does a really good job of making you feel like you are part of a gothic epic through it's visuals and audio.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/20/19596/thumb_940x3000/00_GUI_opening_scene_-_Copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/20/19596/thumb_940x3000/00_GUI_opening_scene_-_Copy.jpg" height="247" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Unfortunately for Castle Dracula it has a pretty poor story, puzzles and overall game interaction. It's great looks and sounds do compensate a bit but not enough. The initial build up is lost when you defeat various monsters rather easily and even if you do die an awful lot, all the game does is restart you back on the screen you left. There aren't any consequences for dying aside from making you wait to be alive again.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/20/19596/thumb_940x3000/Game_over.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/20/19596/thumb_940x3000/Game_over.jpg" height="246" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
If Castle Dracula didn't have such an awkward interface that wasn't so bugged, then it would have made the game much more enjoyable. The potential for a sequel could see all of this rectified. But, for the moment Castle Dracula is a fairly mediocre horror point and click game that does however, look and sound brilliant.<br />
<br />

ReviewMonsters! by QuadraTronGames is a twin stick shooter with a twist, the more you shoot the more you are killing yourself. Unusual concept for a genre that has built a reputation for shooting everything like crazy. For those of you that don't know what a twin stick shooter is, it is a top down shooter where you move with either the left analogue stick or WASD and shoot in different directions thanks to the right stick or up, down, left and right arrows. Basically you just run around a shoot everything till the level is emptied of enemies and move onto the next level. Monsters! is a good example of this. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://monsters.quadratron.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/MonstersScreenshot1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://monsters.quadratron.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/MonstersScreenshot1.png" height="271" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Through having out ammo and health being the same thing, Monsters! makes you consider your strategy for defeating a level. Where is gams gone by I would just whizz across the screen shooting everything in range, in Monsters! I carefully place shots and dash to regain health/ammo. Crashing into enemies or being hit by one of their projectiles means a loss of health/ammo. Care must be taken but not taking down enough enemies can easily lead to being overwhelmed. <br />
<br />
When you kill an enemy it drops a coloured heart. Each one gives our magician (he looks like a magician anyway) a different power. There are six different types of hearts and six (including basic attack) powers to use. These range from a homing attack to rapid fire to a triple fire ability. Each one has its bonuses and draw back. Take the rapid fire for example, great for designating loads of enemies really fast but it uses up a lot,of your health/ammo making it a double edged sword. Collecting a new power up will overwrite the previous one, this includes picking up basic heart so you go back to your standard attack. This adds another layer of strategy worth considering, how do you balance collecting health/ammo with using the various powers available to you? <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://monsters.quadratron.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/MonstersScreenshot2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://monsters.quadratron.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/MonstersScreenshot2.png" height="271" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Each level consists of various waves of enemies and once they are all defeated you continue to the next and more difficult level. The next enemy wave flashes on screen where they are going to appear and they will often appear before you have really begun to clear the previous wave. This can lead to the screen feeling very cramped and you facing overwhelming odds. As you complete each level the enemies change, growing more powerful through the use of projectiles and greater numbers. The difficulty really does stack up but it leaves you wanting to try again once you die. <br />
<br />
Monsters! has some great pixel graphics and the various enemies definitely look like monsters. Are you progress through the game the enemies change and grown more insidious looking. This combine with a stellar soundtrack results in a game that feels engaging and will kick you in the face if you go a bit too trigger happy. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://monsters.quadratron.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/MonstersScreenshot3.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://monsters.quadratron.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/MonstersScreenshot3.png" height="272" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Monsters! Is now fully released and was still in development when put in the Alpha Fundle Bundle by Indie Bundle. This review is for the full game and while it is a great game there are a few things I would have liked to have seen in the full release. Firstly, multiplayer. A game like Monsters! with its tense monster dodging and ammo conservation could have done brilliantly with some kind of Co-Op. Being able to shoot my way through wave after wave and level after level of baddies with a buddy would really increase the playtime and overall enjoyment of the game. Maybe something to consider in the future. Secondly, I'm not a really wanting a huge epic but a bit of context and back story about who I'm playing as and why I'm mashing my way through legions of nasties would be nice. Finally, I could not get my wired controller to work without mapping it with 3rd party software. I hardly ever actually use my wired controller for games but in occasion I do and Monsters! seemed like a good game for me to give it a go on. Apart from these fairly minor points Monsters! is a great game and addition to a genre that was in need of spicing up and Monsters! certainly provides that.<br />

<br />
<br />
With its sick difficulty, more tactics than some strategy games and an endless horde to fight through, Monsters! is sure to keep you busy trying to beat that high score for a long time.<br />

As in classic point and click style you interact with objects and solve puzzles to continue the storyline. In Cognition you play as Erica Reed an FBI agent who has the knack for seeing the past and working out how s crime unfolded. You can activate Erica's 'intuition' with the push of a button and it lets you interact with objects in a different way and find new clues for the case. With a great fully voiced cast of characters, and intriguing plot, atmospheric music and some darn good graphics and artwork my 'intuition' tells me that this might be a game series to keep an eye on.<br />

<br />
The story begins with Erica trying to save her brother from a fiendish serial killer that targets twins. This introduces us to Erica's cognition ability and how to use items. Towards the end of this sequence (I won't give anything away just play it) you have larger puzzle to work out. This introduction, it must be said, is fantastic. It has great pacing, voice acting and the puzzles are logical and fun to work out. <br />
<br />
Once we have finished the introduction, the games jumps ahead a few years to another murder case for our heroin. Erica struggles to control here special 'Cognitive' powers but you still end up using them throughout the game. This does, however, add an emotional backdrop and while she is a badass, it makes her feel more human. Erica is a great character, the only issue is that some of her supporting cast can be wafer thin. However, on the whole the character list has some interesting and likeable people, but some are just...well annoyingly boring. This first episode is though here to introduce the characters, the world and all of Erica's abilities. <br />

<br />
While being a well animated and drawn cast. I have to flag up again that the supporting characters are so generic. The lab guys is a massive techie, the receptionist basically just eye candy and her partner REALLY likes donuts. Overall I feel that the cast of characters could have been made to feel more alive and less stereotypical. Take for example Erica's well built character with an interesting backstory and she actually feels alive and brilliantly flawed rather than some of her supporting friends. Cognition is at its best when don't have to interact with this thinly spread cast but are doing some great deceive work instead and Erica really has all the tools she needs when it comes to solving crimes.<br />
<br />
While Erica's powers are frequently used they do not take anything away from the puzzles or flow of the story by 'giving you the answers'. Her powers, are in fact, a great way that Cognition sets itself aside from other detective adventure games and the game is better for them.<br />
<br />

<br />
There is a great hint system through the method of text messaging. This works really well and keeps the hints within the world rather than some all knowing force giving you hints out of nowhere. It is instead through Erica's mobile. Far more plausible. I would be surprised if you needed to use the hints very much though. Even people who haven't played many point and click adventure games should have no trouble picking up Cognition and playing it through without getting stumped. That isn't to say it is too easy, but instead nicely accessible.<br />
<br />
Cognition has lots of puzzles, big and small. For the most part they make sense and fit into the flow of the story and game, but at times that can feel a tad superfluous. It can feel a bit like you are just doing a puzzle so the game can try and make you feel involved or simply because it feels like throwing another puzzle at you. As I said before these are not difficult puzzles I just question how relevant they are sometimes. <br />
<br />
I can only say good things about the soundtrack to Cognition. It really outstanding and really helps the game to shine. Atmosphere created by the music enhances all the dark and tense moments and it really helps to build suspense through the game. Top notch soundtrack.<br />

<br />
There aren't many bugs in the game that I found, but one major one that kept happening was that it kept freezing. This might be mid puzzle or conversation and was very annoying especially if I hadn't saved in a while. It was a quite game breaking (literally) but only seemed to happen in the first few hours of the game. <br />
<br />
Overall Cognition Episode 1 The Hangman is a great start to the series and leaves us on a fantastic cliff hanger that should leave everyone unable to wait to play Episode 2. While does have its moments where I wonder about some choices, mainly the supporting characters, it mo than makes up for it with a great main character and an intriguing plot and masterful soundtrack.<br />

IGTCED has you answering a call and choosing how it is owing to be handled. This ranges from politeness to the annoyance as you deal with an irritating caller. As the games says itself you can either lose politely or spectacularly. That statement is no truer than in IGTCED. The odds really are stacked against our poor office work as he tries to help the caller and keep his job at the same time.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/20/19864/thumb_940x3000/igtced_screen1.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/20/19864/thumb_940x3000/igtced_screen1.png" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
IGTCED can be easily played in one sitting and it can be a short sitting depending upon your responses to the caller. However, even if you try to satisfy the caller you can still end up getting fired for one reason or another. I have only made it through to the end without getting fired once and that was a mission in itself. <br />
<br />
Call centres must get a real range of people phoning up but I would hate to deal with people like the caller in IGTCED. Especially if I had management that was liable to fire me over the smallest detail. However, I must admit I agree with the decision to for myself sometimes. If I was the boss I would fire somebody who was rude to callers. I do get what our lovely developer David S Gallant is getting at and the game really convey the hopeless soul destroying nature a job like that can be. Then again it led to the creation of this quirky little game to maybe not all bad.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/20/19864/thumb_940x3000/igtced_screen2.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/20/19864/thumb_940x3000/igtced_screen2.png" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
IGTCED is quite addictive. Even though a single play through can last a few minutes it makes you want to try again and try different answers. The music really adds to the experience and the soundtrack really adds to the ambience of the game. However, when it comes down to it I don't feel very good by play it. It's a bit depressing and maybe that is intentional. It the music really reflects the tone of the game in that sense.<br />
<br />
The graphics are as basic as they get and yet they work. You don't need HD 3D graphics when you have some great voice acting (in some cases, don't get me wrong there). The graphics themselves reflect once again the overall tone in the game which to be franks is 'depression'. I Get This Call Every Day is an interesting game but not one to be played when trying to cheer yourself up. It is, however, an usual and unique experience but it is just too damn gloomy for me.<br />
<br />

I have been informed that Dédale means maze and that is a fitting title. In Dédale you have to colour in each piano key square without going back over the ones you have already done. When you guide the butterfly over a square a musical note will play and the sequence of going over them all at once makes a tune. As the puzzles get trickier and add in more elements, I found myself relaxed instead of infuriated when I simply couldn't figure out the puzzle. The soothing music and the "Yes!" factor when you figure out how to finish a level make for a highly addictive and relaxing experience. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/19/18160/thumb_940x3000/1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media.desura.com/cache/images/games/1/19/18160/thumb_940x3000/1.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
What makes Dédale a true gem is the music. It is gorgeous. It is worth playing just to relax to the music. My only issue is that sometimes when you go too fast moving the butterfly the piano key notes mash together. However, that is mostly my own fault for rushing. <br />
<br />
Dédale is splits each puzzle into a different level and then further groups the levels together in worlds. There are 15 levels in each of the 7 worlds. In addition to this there are time trail, vortex and a Dédale-O-Matic modes. <br />

Dédale-O-Matic is an endless mode where every time you finish a puzzle a new randomly generated one appears for our butterfly to paint in. Each is different to the puzzles from the story mode and follows the same key principles. <br />
<br />
In time trail the piano key gradually disappear making life even harder for our young butterfly friend and his endless quest for colouring in. You can play through all of the worlds with time trail on for an added challenge and Dédale-O-Matic as well. It doesn't really make the game any harder just looks pretty and mixes the levels up a bit.<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
Vortex mode rotates the levels as you play them. This causes them to only be mildly harder but made me feel quite ill while playing. Needless to say I did not continue this mode for very long. A nice addition though for those who can manage it.<br />
<br />
As you progress in worlds new elements are added (as you might have seen from the pictures above). These 'special' blocks alter how you can move the butterfly and bring a bit more depth to the gameplay. While it is a nice addition they don't really make the game that much more challenging or alter the core gaming experience beyond "Oh I have to go left here" and can in fact make certain levels easier as it guides you and your insect friend through it.<br />
<br />
Overall Dédale has some interesting elements but is still lacking a bit. I can get over the fact that it assumes I know what to do and have played this kind of game before but it would have been nice to be pointed in the right direction. The puzzles range from very easy to fairly tricky but are randomly assigned in each world. It doesn't feel like they get harder and harder rather you have a hard level then easy level. At the end of the day Dédale is an enjoyable and relaxing puzzler that doesn't do much to stand out from the crowd but is a find addition to it instead.<br />

What I mean is that you don't play as the character (Julian Luxemburg) but in fact play as his subconscious. Also your on a deadline. This game spans then 25 minutes that Julian is waiting for his date to turn up. Sounds unusual and well, it is. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/94000/ss_38d1265310b40c3bc49e32b2723b4e04feb883ae.1920x1080.jpg?t=1330475070" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/94000/ss_38d1265310b40c3bc49e32b2723b4e04feb883ae.1920x1080.jpg?t=1330475070" height="250" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
As Julian's subconscious you cannot change what he does. You can, however, make him do the little things we ourselves don't notice we do. This includes (for Julian) looking at the clock, flexing his hands or chomping on some bread. So what is the natural thing to make him do you you ask? Why get him drunk of course.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/94000/ss_bf46cd1959dfddbc8b8b02bb98460670b80dde74.1920x1080.jpg?t=1330475070" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/94000/ss_bf46cd1959dfddbc8b8b02bb98460670b80dde74.1920x1080.jpg?t=1330475070" height="250" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Now unique as this game is, I must say that Julian is miserable. All he does for 25 minutes is complain about one thing or another. However, he complains in a way that makes him seem real, alive and well to be honest a bit whiney at times. It does though all tie together to produce a highly unique game with some highly stylised graphics (despite our friend Julian's hands....) that afterwards leaves you feeling like you wanted to play more. Maybe more will come one day. <br />
<br />
I would pick up Dinner Date just because I don't believe there is a gaming experience our there like it. However, it does feel like it needed more. That isn't to say it I'd bad just not as good as it could have been<br />

But enough about the game for a moment. The story of King Arthur was a legendary British leader from the late 5th and early 6th centuries. He has had many incarnations over the years including animated films, full features and video games (this basically).<br />
<br />
Anyway now you have a bit of background (albeit very little) on with the game. King Arthur has you adventuring around Britannia in a turn based strategic overworld and engaging in battles in real-time strategy style. Like I said it draws many things from the Total War series. You begin the game as young Arthur's father has died and are being shunted forward to be King. The starting area has you dealing with some rebellious faction and brings in moral choices very early on (something that features heavily as it moulds how the story and your characters changed but more on that later) each with their benefits. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/24400/ss_44f920f0163e64e773fcf6a147691a02757359e3.1920x1080.jpg?t=1322166030" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/24400/ss_44f920f0163e64e773fcf6a147691a02757359e3.1920x1080.jpg?t=1322166030" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The battles have pitting your army against an enemy army. Something I learnt early on was not to rely on the 'autobattle' feature as it almost always end with you losing far too many units. And units are extremely costly to regain. Anyway, during the battles you often have victory points that are certain locations such as villages, towers or keeps that give you buffs and help you to control the battlefield. The more of these you control the more likely you'll win. The buffs can range from Ealing your units to causing your archers to fire faster. All in all they are useful and enrich the gameplay experience by making it really feel as if you are conquering (or liberating) a region.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/24400/ss_5a13e2b1c4cdcd6ea4e4eb447095b3dc095d6737.1920x1080.jpg?t=1322166030" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/24400/ss_5a13e2b1c4cdcd6ea4e4eb447095b3dc095d6737.1920x1080.jpg?t=1322166030" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
King Arthur has RPG features and as such each unit levels up. This means for basic units like spearmen that get to increase their stats. These stats include: attack, defence, stamina and upkeep cost. Your knights of the round table a likewise upgradable with slightly more options. You get a stat point that you can upgrade their leadership or fighting prowess but also you get a skill point for gaining new spells. All your hero units can use these spells in battle and certain units such as cavalry have abilities like dodge that make ranged attacks miss but reduces their defence. <br />
<br />
King Arthur's quest system is reminiscent of old adventure books. Quests happen in a text bed adventure where you make decisions about what you elected knight does. This can alter your in game moral compass so make sure you choose the outcome you want. Quests can either result in a peaceful solution or a battle and the odds can end up stack in either favour depending upon what your choices were previously. This curious little throw back to gaming of years past is actually refreshing and helps to drive the story, build the world and give depth to the characters.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/24400/ss_fd467d1e9a1b6bf674633a74b0303c7fc02649d3.1920x1080.jpg?t=1322166030" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/24400/ss_fd467d1e9a1b6bf674633a74b0303c7fc02649d3.1920x1080.jpg?t=1322166030" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Right, onto the morality system. In King Arthur your moral choices are tracked from four points: Christianity and Old Faith, and Righteous and Tyrant. As you might of guess there are opposites. You can't be a Righteous Tyrant and neither can you be a Christian of the Old Faith. As is usual with moral choices in games it is best to choose what you want to be and stick with it. This is because as you progress down one of the moral pathways you gain new units, skills and general perks depending upon your choices. Being give more than just the 'good' and 'bad' choices adds a little more than usual to a moral choice system. However, it is sometimes necessary the you switch you're choices depending upon the situation. I both love and hate this. Firstly I find it annoying because when I'm close to unlocking a cool Old Faith unit I don't want to need to choose a Christian option to gain a cool item at the end of a quest. I do, however, love that it makes the world less black and white that sometimes it is necessary to compromise. <br />
<br />
The RTS battles in King Arthur are what the game is all about. Pitting your legion against another. This is not always so easy though. For all the great ideas in this game there are so many bugs and bad gameplay choices. For starters, the user interface during RTS battles is so big that sometimes my units die because I can't see they are bring attacked. Another thing that really irritates me in the heat of battle is that I find it really hard to move the camera around. Zooming in and out of the action is a right pain. Sometimes it works and others it doesn't and his really breaks up the flow of the battle or gets me kill because I'm too busy fighting with the camera and not the undead hordes. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/24400/ss_519e291d589bfe51f3506205c7b89fdcdacc2b47.1920x1080.jpg?t=1322166030" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/24400/ss_519e291d589bfe51f3506205c7b89fdcdacc2b47.1920x1080.jpg?t=1322166030" height="250" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />King Arthur has other strange choices. I don't understand why, for example, I have to hover over things for such a long time to know what they are and what they do. If trying to figure out the game for the first time this is not only very time consuming but a pain since it isn't always clear when it is going to show you the information.<br />
<br />
On the whole I would say that King Arthur is a very good strategy game with RPG elements that actually enrich the gameplay. However, it has a number of questionable designs and bugs that frustrate and make the game harder to play. I would say that this is a game worth playing but be aware of some parts that are going to annoy you. However, don't let this minor blemishes put you off a well crafted and highly enjoyable strategy game.<br />

You control your machine by rotating the mouse in a circle and use centripetal force to hit the opponent. With a hefty solo campaign and multiplayer, with Xbox controller connectivity, the quirky game has a lot of usual things to offer.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/41100/ss_bf67f395b67c34ae8ac17e85dc31ec90072cadc7.1920x1080.jpg?t=1320702935" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/41100/ss_bf67f395b67c34ae8ac17e85dc31ec90072cadc7.1920x1080.jpg?t=1320702935" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I remember when I first played Hammerfight, I was thoroughly confused. I remember thinking "So I hit the other guy with the ball thingy?" and did rather poorly at it. After a few games to practice my skills (most of which I lost), I got used to the controls and the timing needed to land a good strike. This is definitely one of those games you need to learn to play and actually read the tutorial to do well. That is something I don't normally do, but simply pick up the game on the fly. This is by no means a bad thing and really makes you feel like you go through a journey from being a rubbish nobody to being an expert superstar.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/41100/ss_e9f3209db04e37f93017413a76586bbbf259e929.1920x1080.jpg?t=1320702935" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/41100/ss_e9f3209db04e37f93017413a76586bbbf259e929.1920x1080.jpg?t=1320702935" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The basic plot of Hammerfight is that you are the last surving member of a tribe called the 'Gaiars', a tribe that has survived by fighting a race of insects. However, after your tribes destruction you meet a family friend who helps you plot the downfall of the Emperor who killed off your people. You do this through gladiator-esque area fights as you claw your way to the top. Overall the plot is enough motivation to get you through the story mode.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/41100/ss_4b3c52df08f6e1f846def07d605bd33eb70370f0.1920x1080.jpg?t=1320702935" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/41100/ss_4b3c52df08f6e1f846def07d605bd33eb70370f0.1920x1080.jpg?t=1320702935" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
As you progress you unlock a variety of new weapons both melee and ranged. This expands the gameplay. With the addition of local multiplayer where you can bash a friend, Hammerfight has a good range of things to offer. Even if those things are a little strange and can leave you going, "What!?". The art and usual game play and use of physics make for a unique gaming experience and this is something I don't get to say very often. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/41100/ss_a1173f6374502c745fc5c598586620d216eb751b.1920x1080.jpg?t=1320702935" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/41100/ss_a1173f6374502c745fc5c598586620d216eb751b.1920x1080.jpg?t=1320702935" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I must admit I really enjoyed Hammerfight despite its tricky controls and sometimes strange collison physics. I especially enjoyed the multiplayer as the story mode is a bit hit and miss. Overall I would recommend this quirky indie area fighter with many twists.<br />

In Super Tower Rush you race a friend to the bottom of a big tower while avoiding traps and using special powers to give yourself the advantage. The winner is the one that reaches the bottom first. The game is still under development but is really a great local multiplayer game.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://indiegamestand.com/media/game_covers/192/gc_1357434704_407.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://indiegamestand.com/media/game_covers/192/gc_1357434704_407.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
With lots of features still to come including online multiplayer and a tutorial you can forgive the developers for letting you be so confused about a few things. Firstly I knows it is good to pick up powers and make them better (or make my opponents worse) by spending the coins I have collected but I am a little fuzzy on what they actually do sometimes. Admittedly after playing a while you figure it out and it doesn't take away from the overall mayhem that is reaching the bottom of the tower and can in fact add to it at times. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<br />
There are a range of characters to choose from and each look very different and as this is an Alpha I expect more to come. I would like character specific powers and I'm sure the Super Tower Rush Team will have added tonnes by the time they make a full release.<br />
<br />
Despite only being in an Alpha state, Super Tower Rush is fantastic fun and really does hearken back to days where local multiplayer was common place and I am looking forward to further updates from them.<br />

I felts it was only fitting to review it as I would any other indie game that was available in a bundle. Orcs Must Die is a 3rd person towner defence game set in a slightly comical world where you plays a Battle Mage who can summon a variety of traps, guardians (troops) and use magical artifacts.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/102600/ss_331796e12ca00dcbe85b209c4c07353692e0c2e3.1920x1080.jpg?t=1353513578" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/102600/ss_331796e12ca00dcbe85b209c4c07353692e0c2e3.1920x1080.jpg?t=1353513578" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
At the beginning of the level you are given the chance to set up some traps and spend your starting money. You will want to adapt the traps, spells or weapons to which enemies will be coming at you. I personally love the alchemic flask that I can throw at people and to grow an army of guardians, but you can choose whatever suits your play style. Between waves you are given a few seconds to quickly summon some extra traps from the money earned through defeating the waves.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/102600/ss_69d950bd0af148c0ed68e1cb42de73c8385d0900.1920x1080.jpg?t=1353513578" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/102600/ss_69d950bd0af148c0ed68e1cb42de73c8385d0900.1920x1080.jpg?t=1353513578" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
As for story, Orcs Must Die sort of has one. After completing a certain number of levels you get a cut-scene that explains what is happening. However, mostly it builds up to the second game Orcs Must Die 2. A game that, so I hear, has more of story than it's predecessor. But essentially you play as a Battle Mage who's master has died and you fight some orcs. Not exactly War and Peace but it suffices for a premise of a brilliant action towner defence game.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/102600/ss_6c488fdfbc33ece2796d2047612cf540c4211925.1920x1080.jpg?t=1353513578" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/102600/ss_6c488fdfbc33ece2796d2047612cf540c4211925.1920x1080.jpg?t=1353513578" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
I would say pick this game up and don't be deterred from the numerous waves of tower defence games around (oh yes wave pun). It bring something fresh to the genre and it's odd humour is at times brilliant.<br />
<br />

In BoI you play as Isaac, or one of a few unlockable characters, as you make your way through a twisted underworld fighting what ever threatens your path forward. At the end of each level their is a boss who you must defeat and once you do gives you something useful for the next level. These can be items that increase your speed or general damage but also include special items such as a slot machine or pills with different effect. Basically there is lots of stuff to get that you will be hard pressed to have the same item set more than once. BoI's allows you to play fairly casually with the difficulty increasing as the levels go on but not getting insanely hard that you get bored.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://cdn2.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/113200/ss_5d13a1f44e2951640d741b2c39efdc8bddb02a51.1920x1080.jpg?t=1355943480" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn2.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/113200/ss_5d13a1f44e2951640d741b2c39efdc8bddb02a51.1920x1080.jpg?t=1355943480" height="303" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
The main gist of the plot for the game is that you (Isaac) and your Mother are happy but then God gets involved and then it all goes down hill. This forces Isaac to escape into the sewers and so begins a brilliant indie game where you must fight of spiders, meat piles and the seven deadly sins in order meet the final boss, your Mother. As you go through each level you will collect bombs, coins and keys. Each of which can be used in their own ways. Throw each level having a special item, that can increase your ability, on each level and you have a great dynamic and yes fair Zelda like game. However, Zelda has nothing on the weird crazy world of BoI and I haven't play a game like it in a long time, something that I find very refreshing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://cdn2.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/113200/ss_129f9fcb69ef6f7593a060eb57cf404b3e0bc31e.1920x1080.jpg?t=1355943480" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn2.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/113200/ss_129f9fcb69ef6f7593a060eb57cf404b3e0bc31e.1920x1080.jpg?t=1355943480" height="303" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
The basic controls are WSAD keys to move and arrow keys to shoot. Shift or E for bombs and space and Q for special abilities and items that are found along the way. Isaacs basic attacks increase as you play (or as you get items rather) making his 'tear' attacks do more damage, have a larger range and attack faster. Each character that you unlock has different attributes, this ranges from special abilities to health and movement speed. With lots of variety BoI is always a refreshing experience.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://cdn2.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/113200/ss_aa2474feabad33fc9b6669553698156bb561e544.1920x1080.jpg?t=1355943480" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn2.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/113200/ss_aa2474feabad33fc9b6669553698156bb561e544.1920x1080.jpg?t=1355943480" height="302" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
Unlockable characters, steam achievements, deals with the devil and challenging gameplay all make this a game worth playing. Something that I suggest you do.<br />

As you help your tribe flourish you can use various totems for special effect such as raining down thunder and lightning or expand your territory. The objective of each level varies and gets increasingly difficult as you progress.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://indiegamestand.com/media/game_covers/152/gc_1352634164_407.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://indiegamestand.com/media/game_covers/152/gc_1352634164_407.png" width="400" /></a></div><br />
While you can't actively control your fellow tribesmen and women. You can tell them to make homes, war or go to a selected point. These all have their own gains, as you might expect. And while you don't choose where they build their houses by creating land appropriately you can effectively give them a push is the fit direction. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://indiegamestand.com/media/screenshots/152/407_thumbnails/IGS_003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://indiegamestand.com/media/screenshots/152/407_thumbnails/IGS_003.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
Once you complete all of the campaign levels there are additional challenge modes, which as you might have guessed, provide you with a challenge. On top of this there is also skirmish mode that means you can simply try to take over all of the land without being tied down to a specific campaign level. <br />
<br />
Overall there isn't much to be said about Reprisal apart from it is an enjoyable and quite addictive strategy game. I full recommend it.<br />

It was free for signing up for <a href="https://indiegamestand.com/">Indie Game Stand</a> when it first launched. Think of Indie Game Stand deals in individual games at with the usual bundle norm of letting you choose the price. I for one think it is a great site.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://indiegamestand.com/media/screenshots/88/originals/start.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://indiegamestand.com/media/screenshots/88/originals/start.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Anyway Chester is a 2D platformer with a twist. Quite a cool twist as well I may add. It lets you change the appearance of the level at anytime. Each appearance gives you different advantages such as slower enemies or other benefits. On top of this you can change characters at anytime as well. Sick of playing regular Chester? Then switch to Bit Chester who has different abilities. Oh and did I mention the element system? In true rock, paper, scissors tradition each Chester has an element: fire, water and grass. Each has a strength and a weakness which means you attacks do less or more depending upon the enemies element. Throw into this ultimate attacks that are upgraded through a minor RPG element. As you defeat enemies with the various Chester's you also gain XP and when you get enough that Chester levels up and it's abilities increase. All in all this well put together 2D platformer has a lot to offer throughout its 4 main stages and 4 difficulty levels with tonnes of collectables to boot.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://indiegamestand.com/media/screenshots/88/originals/92.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://indiegamestand.com/media/screenshots/88/originals/92.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
As you journey through the world of Chester you will find yourself in various different levels with different environments from blueprints to sketch. Each has you going in search of the fabled cupcake at the end of the level. The level design is great and challenging but not impossible plus the wide range of characters add an extra dimension to the entire game.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://indiegamestand.com/media/screenshots/88/originals/69.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://indiegamestand.com/media/screenshots/88/originals/69.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Chester has real charm in it's humour and clever artwork that, while in a heartbeat can change, really defines the Chester Universe. Chester is fantastic and I heartily recommend this brilliantly fun and addictive indie game to anyone.<br />

This is one of those games that you don't expect to be as good as it actually is. The concept of a robot boy goes on a platforming adventure sounds rather boring and generic but what Cave Story+ provides is a fresh and thoroughly entertaining and challenging experience.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/200900/ss_68f8531e30d2060be3473f75135f02f2b4bce722.1920x1080.jpg?t=1331070417" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/200900/ss_68f8531e30d2060be3473f75135f02f2b4bce722.1920x1080.jpg?t=1331070417" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
As you travel through Cave Story+ you can not only acquire new weapons as you progress through the story but you also upgrade your current ones by collecting some triangles that are dropped by enemies. These enemies can range from fluffy cute but deadly white creatures to something that resembles a fly. Thanks to Cave Story+'s unique art style all of these wonders look new and like nothing ever seen before. Anyway, the weaponry ranges from a machine gun to rockets to a ninja throwing blade type weapon. Each of which as multiple levels that change how powerful they are along side their animation as well. More to the point when you max out you machine gun you can jump and fire downwards to basically fly around all the levels. Amazing just for that one ability.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/200900/ss_0534b96f9af76f8c2aff4584b66f8919cb6e4591.1920x1080.jpg?t=1331070417" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/200900/ss_0534b96f9af76f8c2aff4584b66f8919cb6e4591.1920x1080.jpg?t=1331070417" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Boss fights. Need more elaboration? Fair enough. Well Cave Story+ has amazing boss fights. From giant robot fish to island hearts you will be forever surprised by what the next boss fight is going to be. These boss fights are not only wickedly cool but can be really hard as well. But not hard in a "how do I do this?" kind of way but a "if I do this next time I can totally win this!" way instead. The boss fights are always something to look forward thanks to how enjoyable each one is.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/200900/ss_10a7f8ff8fe0629a4d79ff7f4dbcc7eeffdb61ca.1920x1080.jpg?t=1331070417" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/200900/ss_10a7f8ff8fe0629a4d79ff7f4dbcc7eeffdb61ca.1920x1080.jpg?t=1331070417" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The story of Cave Story+ while making very little sense is actually really fun to play though. I have little idea how the creator came up with such a wacky world but I sure am glad they did. While you play as your little robot dude you will come across a large number of characters both good and bad that all bring something enjoyable to the game. Whether that be by being funny, silly or just plain weird there is not a single character I would do without.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/200900/ss_9298452bd6036a9be9c12fbf96a1ab0a5a04ce2d.1920x1080.jpg?t=1331070417" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://cdn.steampowered.com/v/gfx/apps/200900/ss_9298452bd6036a9be9c12fbf96a1ab0a5a04ce2d.1920x1080.jpg?t=1331070417" height="225" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This is one of my very favourite games from any Indie Bundle. The fact that you can fly by shooting the floor already sets it ahead of the pack but ontop of that it brings a great adventure with an amazing art style and lovably crazy characters. I just want a second one to play now.<br />
